| Hoarwithy
is a pleasant, unspoilt village on the banks of the tranquil River Wye.
Many people visit us just to relax and enjoy
the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire and the Welsh Marches
(the former famous for its Hereford cattle and cider apples, the latter
for iron age forts and mountain ranges). It is an ideal base for a walking
or cycling holiday. The Wye Valley walk starts
very near to the house and we have many maps and books you may borrow.
Bicycles can either may brought with you or hired from brilliant bikes
in the village.
There are also a suprising amount of interesting places to visit all within
a short distance. A few suggesions follow :-

A visit to the town of Newent
including the Butterfly centre, the Falconry Centre and the Three
Choirs Vineyard.

A visit to the Forest
of Dean- a walk through the sculpture Trail, Speech House and
Puzzle Wood

The market towns of Ross-on-Wye,
Ledbury and Monmouth.

Symonds Yat –
where the river Wye’s horseshoe bend is located. Lovely views,
peregrine falcons and lots of fun for the children.

A visit to the town of Hereford.
The cathedral is famous for it’s Chained library and Mappa Mundi.
There is also an interesting Cider Musuem where
Bulmers was first based, the Cattle Market, swimming pool, theatre,
cinema and leisure centre.

The Black and White village trail – step
back in time in the villages of Weobley, Eardisland
and Pembridge. Interesting craft
and antique shops to browse in , traditional tea rooms and plenty
of pubs serving good local food.

A day’s horse racing at Cheltenham,
Hereford, Chepstow or Ludlow

A drive through the delightful Golden
Valley to Hay-on-Wye, famous for
its bookshops

There are also many Castles, Houses and Gardens
open to the public.

For active days there’s fishing, canoeing,
cycling, golf and horse riding.
